Picture is from Ledbury, a charming town in England.

I have been avoiding the blog lately. My mood has been for the most part quite dark. I feel so unsettled and as a result been relying on Netflix or rather Netfix a bit heavily the last few weeks. Work was painfully slow today and I volunteered to leave early. I'm not sure if I should be worried about how slow it has been or not. I am trying to not be too concerned at this point.
I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. I choose to ignore it for the most part. Actually that isn't quite accurate. I prepared some little Martha Stewart candy boxes I had bought last year on sale for my co-workers. I went to Trader Joe's to buy a box of French truffles and nestled them in the cute little pink boxes and sealed them with some brown ribbon with the word chocolat on it. I should've taken some pics but forgot. Other than that I made some baked goods for a bake sale for the lab's Relay for Life team.
I used to love to bake. Every week I'd bake a cake or cookies to take into work. I don't do that as much partly because of the cost (organic stuff tends to more expensive.) My co-workers don't give a darn about organic anything but I do. My identity was tied to my baking. I think the turning point was when I did a wedding cake for some friends 7 or 8 years ago. I was a nervous wreck going through a breakup, trying to be happy and together enough to haul the baked layers and the bowls of white chocolate cream cheese frosting and the flowers to decorate the bloody thing to the wedding site an hour away from home in 90 degree weather. I pulled it off successfully. I did it once, don't ever need to do that again.
I've been watching Buffy still. Season 7 halfway through. Good goddess! How did I miss it the first time around? Joss Whedon is a genius. James Marsters is a god. The script writers are amazing. I like that as the characters get older and the plot line progresses things get more complicated. Similiar to the Harry Potter books. A reminder to leave comments to be put in the drawing for some mushroom fun. So far only 4 peeps are entered. I have been slack in blogging and will try to do better.

How weird, I couldn't get to this page through my reader.

I'm sorry you're feeling so dark lately. Sometimes that's the best time to force yourself to the blog to write. Get it out.

Did I get entered in the mushroom drawing?

I love the Buffy series but I got annoyed with all the sex in the show as the seasons progress. I really don't need to see Sarah Michelle Gellar in Flagrante Delicto with every single male character for half of each show.

Have you seen the Firefly show that Joss Whedon did? It's even better than Buffy!

No way, the word verification for this is "barks" so I had to leave another comment. Just so I could tell you.

What can I say, I am easily amused.

Angelina,
I think the whole perky blonde babe (Buffy) thing turned me off originally. The lots o' sex schtick doesn't do it for me either, but I think the lonely, responsible, world on her shoulders thing does. Besides I get my "bad boy" turns "good" fantasy in Spike. I haven't watched Firefly yet but it is in the queue. Yep, you are entered in the drawing-multiple times now. I am putting together mushroom themed items. Yeah!

I just saw the firefly comment. YOU HAVE TO WATCH IT! Have you ordered the tv series or the movie? Both rock!

Tonia, I read you (I hope you don't stop blogging). I am constantly behind (probably need a "blog reader"), but I do get around to catching up (usually on the weekends!)

I love your photos and I love hearing about the area of the country you call home!

First, I want to say that you have to check out Firefly (the movie and the way too brief series)--hugely impressive in style, setting, characters, and writing. I guess I'll have to revisit Buffy--missed out on that completely. Have you seen the new Whedon series--Dollhouse, I think?

And I have to tell you that so many of your recent posts are just right where I'm at emotionally that it's kinda spooky. Angelina from Dustpan Alley handles her dark moments with such precision and honesty, and I wish I could do the same. But I'm like you, the darkness just doesn't inspire much in the way of blog writing--it's hard to share. And so my refuge lately has been re-reading the Twilight series.

Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving the beautiful comment on my Crow post.

My best to you--I hope the darkness lifts.

Love the shrooms!!
